Algorithmic Trinity
A three-part model of what algorithms do with a brand: understand it, judge its credibility, then deliver it. Coined by Jason Barnard in 2024.
The three parts
Understanding is whether the system can resolve what you are: the entity, its attributes, its relationships. Credibility is whether it has reason to believe you. Delivery is whether it surfaces you to the right person at the right moment.
The order is not decorative. Credibility signals attached to an unresolved entity accrue to nothing, and delivery cannot happen for something the system does not trust.
Why practitioners find it useful
It gives a diagnosis rather than a score. When a brand is not appearing in AI answers, the question becomes which of the three failed, and the evidence for each is different.
It also explains why the most common intervention, producing more content, so often changes nothing. More content adds delivery surface to a brand that failed at understanding or credibility.
