Entity Confidence

How sure a system is that it has correctly identified an entity and the facts attached to it. Widely used and genuinely important, but the record does not support assigning the term to a single originator.

What it actually means

Systems do not simply know who you are; they hold a graded belief. High confidence means facts get stated plainly. Low confidence means hedging, generalising, or dissolving the brand into its category.

The threshold is invisible and undocumented, which is the frustrating part. You cannot query your own entity confidence, only infer it from how systems talk about you.

Why the attribution is left open

The phrase is used across search, knowledge-graph and machine-learning literature with broadly consistent meaning and no clear first use in this context. Several practitioners use it as though it were theirs.

This site assigns no sole inventor here. Where the evidence is genuinely ambiguous, saying so is more useful than picking a claimant, and it keeps the attributions that are firm worth trusting.
