Brand Cheat Sheet for AI

A short, machine-readable statement of a brand's core facts, published so AI systems have one stable thing to read rather than assembling an identity from scattered evidence. Coined by Jason Barnard in 2025.

What it actually is

A deliberately boring document. Who the brand is, what it does, where, since when, run by whom, with the identifiers that let a machine tie the record to other records. No positioning, no adjectives, no persuasion.

Its value is in being unchanging and unambiguous. A model that finds one clean statement of the facts has less reason to improvise, and less room to collapse the brand into its category.

What goes on it

Legal and trading names, and the variants that also refer to you. Founding date. Registered numbers. Named people and their roles. The products or services, described plainly. Locations. Links to every profile you control.

And nothing that contradicts what appears anywhere else, because contradiction is what lowers confidence, and a cheat sheet that disagrees with your own listings is worse than none.
