Entity Support and Resistance

Recurring floors and ceilings in an entity's AI visibility, borrowing support and resistance language from technical trading. Coined by Paul Truscott in 2026.

What it actually means

Tracked over time, a brand's citation frequency often oscillates within a band rather than moving freely. It struggles to fall below a certain level, and struggles to rise above another.

The floor is the visibility your existing corroboration guarantees. The ceiling is what your current evidence base can support. Breaking through the ceiling usually needs new evidence, not better content.

How far the metaphor holds

Reasonably far as description, not at all as prediction. In markets, support and resistance are partly self-fulfilling because traders watch the same levels. Nothing equivalent happens in AI retrieval.

So the pattern is real and the mechanism is different: the band reflects the stability of your underlying corroboration, not the behaviour of other participants.
